Sandstone cliffs, rocky coves, hilly ground, and a rustic feel make Katie’s Woods one of my favorite spots on the shores of Grapevine Lake. Photos taken November 13, 2023 in overcast conditions. (12 photos)

I walked down to Grapevine Lake on May 13 and was surprised to see all of the wildflowers; especially the large patches of Clasping Coneflowers just off Horseshoe Trail at the end of Park Road 10. Clasping Coneflowers are very similar to Mexican Hat, but they can be distinguished by their leaves. Leaves of Clasping Coneflower appear to wrap around the stem at their base.
